Despite a larger candidate offering than Oxford has seen in several years, the incoming 2024-2029 Oxford Town Council will see only one new councillor take a seat: Padraic Moore. In taking a run at the Mayor’s chair, former Deputy Mayor Arnold MacDonald loses his place on Council. And if there was ever doubt about residents’ desires to keep the transfer station, it’s been solidly laid to rest.
Here are the election night results. Official results will be posted on Tuesday, the final day for any recounts that may be called for contested results. Candidates with a (*) have secured a seat:
MAYOR:
Greg Henley 336 *
Arnold MacDonald 248
Spoiled online: 3
Declined online: 3
COUNCIL:

On the matter of keeping the Oxford Transfer Station vs. opting for Curbside pickup, town residents were very clear on their preference:
yes: 478 No: 88
Spoiled: 7
Declined: 6
Voter turnout was 60.6% of the eligible electors.
While polls closed at 7:00pm local time and electronic results were calculated almost immediately, the counting of physical ballots added considerably to the wait for final results, which were made available around 10:00pm.
Congrats to the new team and on a solid turn out of voters! Here’s to a new chapter. 🥳
