The Oxford Cenotaph, 1961

The Main Street of Oxford was lined with cars on a raining Monday morning. Veterans, cadets, members of the local first responders community and family members of the fallen came to remember the soldiers who took up arms for Canada.

More than simply Remembrance, the gathering in Memorial Park brought a community together under overcast skies and scattered leaves, with the cries of seagulls milling about overhead. The names of the soldiers listed on the Oxford Cenotaph were recited, and the playing of The Last Post stirred the emotions of those gathered.

Another year, and We Remember.

Lest We Forget.
